Martin Luther King Day Vigil for Gaza ~ Bellevue
Monday 1/19/2009 5:00-7:00 pm
Fountain in front of Macy’s on Bellevue Way, Bellevue
.

Please join us for a candle light vigil for the people of Gaza. Over 1000 people have been killed, including a large number of civilians and children. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire and we demand an immediate cease fire. We also need to inform people that they can save lives by calling upon our senators and congress people to demand a cease fire, and allow humanitarian aid to get to the people of Gaza.
Objective: To respectfully and peacefully remember those who have died in Gaza under the latest Israeli attacks, and to draw attention to the suffering of 1.5 million people who are still under attack with nowhere to go. We are having this vigil on MLK Day because we respect this great man who dedicated his life to the passage of civil rights. Freedom, equality, and peace were cornerstones of this Nobel Peace Prize Winner’s beliefs, and this is what we wish for the people in Gaza and the West Bank as well.
Bring candles to share, signs, and cards or flowers to lay down for the victims.
