The Friends Center space was packed with Seattlites eager to hear Jess Sundin's story and to show their support for her and the other anti-war and peace activists who were served with subpoenas to grand juries, after being raided by the FBI. The charges were associated with the "material support for terrorism" laws now being used by the Obama Justice Dept. to intimidate activists. Substantial funds were raised to support the cause.
Adding their voices to Jess' call to stand up against government harassment were Neil Fox, National Lawyers Guild attorney; Amin Odeh, Voices of Palestine and Arab American Community Coalition activist; and Arthur Miller, radical journalist, Wobbly member and organizer for the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee.
The Seattle group that has formed around this issue is Seattle United Against FBI Repression. The national website is at stopfbi.net.
