Half of Americans Approve of Israel's Military Attacks in Lebanon

"PRINCETON, NJ -- According to a new USA Today/Gallup poll, the American public clearly denounces the recent actions of the Hezbollah organization in Lebanon and sympathizes with Israel's position, but stops short of endorsing the extent of military action taken by Israel thus far. While Israel is reportedly amassing ground troops to invade southern Lebanon if its air attacks don't succeed in crippling Hezbollah, American public opinion tilts against a ground invasion."

11% approve of Hezbollah's attacks against Israel.
The Israeli Fascism supporters will gloat that 50% of Americans approve of Israel's measures. I don't really think that this poll bodes well for Israel at all.

A USA Today/Gallup poll showed that Americans are split evenly, with 50% approving of Israel's military attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon.
However, the results of the survey showed some important caveats for both supporters and critics of Israel's actions.
The polling firm described support for Israel's military actions as "somewhat subdued" due to a number of responses to questions that were in some ways conflicting. For instance, Hezbollah's actions were criticized by Americans, with 76% of Americans disapproving of its attacks on Israel (although 11% reportedly approved of the attacks), and 53% laying the blame for the war on Hezbollah.
Just 27% of Americans considered Lebanon to be an instigator of the attacks, suggesting that harm to civilians in the country may have dimmed support for Israel's response.
This suggestion is reflected in the belief of 50% of Americans that Israel's attacks on the country have gone too far (only 7% believe that the attacks are not justified at all). Similarly, 47% of Americans oppose an invasion of Southern Lebanon by Israeli ground troops, while 40% support it.
The survey's results were based on telephone interviews with a randomly selected national sample of 1,005 adults, aged 18 and older, conducted July 21-23.
