Revolutionaries For Democrats--by Jan Baughman

The author wishes to acknowledge Stan Goff, Andrew Austin, and all the Marxist Revolutionaries who have called to vote for the Democrats in the midterm ...

In addition, seeing the overwhelming support the Dems have given to Israel both in its bombing of Lebanon and its razing of Gaza and the West Bank, I could never support candidates who had a hand in that.--Linda

Not supporting Democrats doesn't change anything with respect to Zionist behavior in that part of the world. However, it could have put the peoples you imply you support in weaker positions. Since Republicans and Christian Zionists are the most dedicated supporters of Israel, voting for some other party besides the Democrats, if men and women of the left had in great number made that error, would have strengthened Israel over against the Lebanese and the Palesinians by prolonging the stay in power of those who support Israel most enthusiastically. Since the only party that stood a chance of winning and therefore rethinking the relationship between the US and Israel is the Democrats, voting for that party was the most rational choice. Indeed, Carter's book puts pressure on Democrats to rethink the relationship even harder, whereas Republicans would have remained unmoved by Carter's presence. This is what happens when you change the relations of power - the new situation open up more options, which was what I argued all along. That's why people ought to listen to nondogmatic Marxists instead of the knee jerk ideologues.

I will take your point when I see Democrats being moved by Carter's argument.
