Through the Looking Glass
My computer’s a looking glass
With a switch to turn it off
Should I not like what’s there,
Much prefer what’s here
For what’s here is real, also nice
Garden, workshop, food and wine
Parties with friends, art to ponder
Grandchildren to delight and wonder
Through the glass live Blogs
Dwellers in an imagined world
Of illegal war, legal pillage
Murder and rape for profit
The Blogs see but cannot do
As carbon melts the poles
Cell phones call off bees
Deserts overcome trees
See the poor die first
A barrel of oil to quench thirst
Breathe the stench of dead cities
Dead Tigris and Euphrates
The switch! My passage back
From that ghastly looking glass
Check the evening news for crime,
War on drugs, no child left behind
My computer’s a looking glass
With a switch to turn it off
Should I not like what’s there,
Much prefer what’s here
For what’s here is real, also nice
Garden, workshop, food and wine
Parties with friends, art to ponder
Grandchildren to delight and wonder
Through the glass live Blogs
Dwellers in an imagined world
Of illegal war, legal pillage
Murder and rape for profit
The Blogs see but cannot do
As carbon melts the poles
Cell phones call off bees
Deserts overcome trees
See the poor die first
A barrel of oil to quench thirst
Breathe the stench of dead cities
Dead Tigris and Euphrates
The switch! My passage back
From that ghastly looking glass
Check the evening news for crime,
War on drugs, no child left behind
